The medicare policy on intermittent catheter reuse changed for the benefit of individuals with permanent incontinence or urinary retention!
The new Medicare policy eliminates mandatory reuse of intermittent catheters for outpatients who receive intermittent catheter prescriptions from doctors. All consumers, with or without a history of recurring urinary tract infections, can now receive one sterile urological catheter (and one packet of lubricant) for each catheterization.
What does this mean for me?
Medicare now pays for individual catheters for your use - at no extra expense! Now you can reduce your risk of UTI’s by never having to reuse a catheter again.
